Welcome to Cutting Class. This website serves as a guide to the creative endeavors of the Journalism 456: Long Form Video class. Throughout the semester, all fourteen students have been filming short documentary films on a subject of their choice. In order to introduce and showcase these pieces, J456 will be live streaming the show “Cutting Class.”

The students of J456 would like to take a moment to highlight their accomplished instructors. Patricia Hastings, principal instructor for this course, is a distinguished video and audio journalist. Hastings was influential in the fields of news reporting and media consulting before joining the SJMC team. Peter Kleppin is the co-teacher for J456 and is a seasoned video producer. Kleppin oversees video production and manages partnerships with the Big Ten Network and PBS Wisconsin for the University.

The show “Cutting Class” will be live-streamed on May 4. Click the “The Show” tab to watch the stream.
